Good Work Friday
By: Michael Beiter
I have a 19-year-old client who plays college football that I've been working with for a month.
He lost 13 lbs while eating in a cafeteria. He managed to turn what we envisioned as a roadblock into a strength:
"Oh yeah, the cafeteria is easy, man. I get turkey, hard-boiled eggs, and baked chicken breasts. I already feel faster and more agile in practice, and my clothes are getting looser," he said.
One of the biggest challenges for college or high school athletes like Cole is that his position demands size, and that size often comes in the form of excess body fat.
We unfairly ask linemen to compromise their health 'for the good of the team.'
"I told my coaches I didn't care what they wanted me to weigh, I'm doing this for me, and if I get too light to play line, I'll just switch positions," my guy said.
I loved it.
Then, two of my friends came over with a green gift!
I've also been helping them with their food and fitness; she has lost nine pounds of fat in eight weeks and nine inches from around her body.
He lost seven pounds of fat, and now we must start feeding him more.
They were both in awe at how much food they could eat while still losing. Additionally, drinks, twenty-seven dollars worth of Trolli gummy candy, and a lay-off and new job acceptance were all barriers they overcame with no detriment to their progress. Oh yeah, they also dropped shop and drove across the country for an impromptu vacation.
My work filled me up big today. I've never seen a young man (19) take to nutrition change so well, and seeing my friends lean, healthy, and beautiful with their kids running around pretty much crystallized why I do what I do.
Happy Friday
