New Client, Same Employer
By: Michael Beiter
I got a new client today!
She works at Principal and is about to turn fifty years young!
"I've paid attention to your content for years and want to see if you can help me," she inquired.
As we talked, she mentioned that she'd tried it all and that I wouldn't be helping her with anything revolutionary with fitness or nutrition. I agreed but responded, "There's nothing new under the sun in either of those areas; everyone is doing the same stuff. But I promise you that I can help you with the psychological side. I'm damn near positive you haven't heard any of that!"
"How do you know!?" she laughingly replied.
"Because you're still following the 'I only exercise and eat well when I'm signed up for something' model. That one loses its utility for most of us early in the game. If we don't replace it with a model that makes exercise enjoyable and strip the contingencies, we will run into problems with motivation and consistency." I pointed out.
"......I'll be back next week." She finished.
My Principal group of clients is my most significant and growing! I'm appealing to them, not from a hierarchical, top-down 'coach' perspective. People actually respond poorly to that. I try the 'teach you how to fish' stuff, and it always works.
