A Case Study: 43-Year-Old Female With 4 Testosterone

By: Michael Beiter

At my business, we teach people to go through an order of operations that moves from simple to complex.

I've observed that a lot of people want there to be something wrong to let them off the hook for bad behavior.

Rather than admitting to their mistakes and correcting them, which is within their control, they want something to be wrong that's outside their control, they can point to and say, "See, it wasn't my fault."

So we start with sleeping, eating, and exercising and go through several variables to see if we can find the outcomes we're after. If we're still stuck after dozens of experiments, we go to the more complex stuff, like blood work, hormone panels, and specialist visits.

A 43-year-old female client has been working away with weightlifting, food tracking, and sleeping to no avail. I suggested she see a specialist and get some hormones checked.

Her testosterone came back. It was 4, the lowest number I've ever seen in all my years of work.

Women need testosterone in the hundreds to function and feel as good as possible. Especially if they're resistance training and eating a bunch of protein to try and build muscle.

"I walked out of there with answers, finally! I got prescribed some thyroid medication and injected with testosterone pellets. I haven't had this much energy in years; I now feel motivated to lift weights." She said.

She lost an inch off her waist and tested her lowest body composition number.
