A Mother of Four Inspires
By: Michael Beiter
I'm constantly amazed by one of my clients.
She recently had her fourth child and completed her six-week postnatal period phase last week. To celebrate, she decided to hit the gym at 5 am.
Her training partner suggested that she should go easy on her first workout back. But she replied, "Yeah right, I've been waiting for this for too long!" and grabbed the barbell with determination.
The workout was tough, and she was sore for days, but she loved it.
In the seventh week after giving birth, she did three workouts and plans to gradually ramp up to her regular schedule of five per week. I've known this woman for years, and her work ethic is exceptional. She was back at work just one week after delivery and had board meetings within a month of returning.
Many people I've worked with in similar situations can't handle it, and they often quit. But people like her are built differently.
I don't think I could handle even one-fifth of what she does, and I certainly couldn't wear such a pretty smile while doing it.
I'm grateful to have clients and friends like her around me. They prove what's possible when you challenge the status quo.
