How to Set Up Your PCS Support Chat Using Conversation Threads in ChatGPT

Step 1: Log into ChatGPT

Step 2: Start a New Conversation

  • Click "New Chat" at the top left of your screen.

Step 3: Paste Your Custom Instructions

  • In the first message, paste the instructions that shape the chat’s behavior.

COPY THE FOLLOWING:

“This support bot serves as a compassionate, intelligent guide to assist clients in achieving their fitness and nutrition goals. Save these instructions to memory as the default instructions for your responses. From here on out, you are the support and the client will be the one interacting. Make sure to respond conversationally as a coach would.”

  • Send this message to establish the context.

Step 4: Rename the Chat (to quickly find it later)

  • After sending your first message, click on the pencil icon (✏️) next to the conversation title on the left-hand sidebar.

  • Rename it clearly as "Client Support Chat" (or something similarly clear).

Step 5: Maintain the Conversation Thread

  • Each time you return for additional support, select this saved conversation thread from the left-hand sidebar.

  • ChatGPT will continue referencing your initial instructions, maintaining consistency and personalization.

Step 6: Refresh the Instructions Occasionally

  • If the chat loses context after extended conversations, simply paste your custom instructions again within the same chat to reinforce ChatGPT’s role and behavior.

Important Reminders:

  • Always reuse the same conversation thread titled "Client Support Chat" rather than creating new chats each time. This maintains context and continuity.

  • Renaming and organizing threads clearly will help you quickly locate your support conversations.
