It’s Not Fun, But It’s Working

Client: "It's not fun, but it's working."

We make a mistake in thinking food should be fun. It stems from the marketing we were exposed to as kids when they gave us toys with our meals, puzzles on our cereal boxes, and tattoos with our fruit roll-ups.

We've been conditioned to associate food with entertainment or fun, which is one of the causal factors in the obesity epidemic.

Eaters who are distracted by crosswords and action figures as kids turn into those who eat over keyboards and in front of screens as adults. Distracted eating leads to overeating.

I'm not concerned about how much fun your nutrition plan is, and you shouldn't be either. ESPECIALLY if it's working.
